The closing of global action week

Ministries, politicians, representatives of civil society become part of the “big lesson”

Tirana, May 9, 2014-Among the greening of “Rinia” park and in the presence of government representatives, members of the Albanian Parliament, Teacher’s Union, representatives of the Ombudsman’s office, the Office Against Discrimination, children, parents, the Albanian Coalition for Child Education organized the closing event of the Global Action Week, “Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities”.

Mr. Altin Hazizaj, General Director of CRCA, welcomed the participants and brought to their attention the importance that education plays at children’s life.

The event was opened by Mr.Altin Hazizaj, Director General of CRCA, which brought to everyone's attention the importance that education plays for children with disabilities. He transimitted the message that ensuring the right to inclusive education is a fundamental right that should be guaranteed to every child regardles their abilities. 

Greta Kokoshi, 16 years old girl with Down syndrome with her ​​innocence expressed to the participants the difficulties she faced in pursuing compulsory public education.

In her speech Mrs . Lindita Nikolla, the Minister of Education and Sports thanked the Albanian Coalition for Child Education for the activity and publicly promised that the institution she heads will do every effort to in ensuring quality inclusive education for children with disabilities  in all Albanian schools. 

Mrs. Bardhylka Kospiri, Deputy/Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, welcomed the recommendations made by ACCE, in the framework of improving inclusive education of children with disabilities in public compulsory education, and advised all young people with disabilities to be oriented towards vocational education .

Ensuring supporting teachers in all schools attended by children with disabilities was the message that the  head of Teachers’ Union Mr. Xhafer Dobrushi conducted to the Minstry of Education and Sports.

Representative from the Office of the Ombudsman Mr.Ermir Kapedani invited all civil society organizations that focus their work in protecting the rights of children with disabilities to be part of Albanian Coalition for Child Education .

Mrs. Zela Koka, the Chair woman of MEDPAK and also a parent of a child with disabilities, spoke about initiatives that parents of children with disabilities have organized in the framework of the Global Week and inclusive early childhood education in the entire country.



During the activity "Big Lesson" we all learned that with much love and dedication all children with disabilities will have equal opportunities!
