Dear Ministers,
Re: Protecting the prioritization of global education within the G20
...

Nepal, November 2018 - The Albanian Coalition for Education (ACE), a member of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) since 2004, participated in one of the most important events in the field of education such as the Global Learning Event and the GCE General Assembly in Kathmandu, Nepal.
We have reached the end of the sixth World Assembly, which successfully brought together over 300 participants, civil society representatives, education campaigners and youth advocates from over 100 countries, to debate, reflect and collectively plan for a transformative vision, committed to the full realization of the human rights of education for all. Collective milestones have been reached over the past week.
We at the Secretariat, thank you all for your participation and robust dialogues that will plant the seeds for the movement's direction in the next four years! At this historical 6th World Assembly in Kathmandu Nepal, our members were joined by the United Nations Deputy Secretary General Ms Amina J Mohammed for a keynote address and discussions around the education crisis, SDG4 and the role of youth and civil society. Other special guests and participants included Nora Fyles, the Director of the Secretariat for the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative (UNGEI) who contributed immensely to the gender and equality debates. We will continue to foster these relationships as we ensure to action discussions from the past six days.
For the first time ever, youth advocates and leaders were given a legitimate space within the wider education movement. We are proud of our global youth leaders and welcome youth representative Daniel Altman, as he takes his seat as GCE youth constituent board member. At this 6th Global Campaign for Education World Assembly, we reflected on the growth of the movement, successes and challenges confronted over the years.
As well as debating on a wide range of relevant issues relating to universal education, at the World Assembly we determined the priorities of our advocacy and campaigns for the next four years and set our strategic direction as we collectively engaged with the GCE 2019 - 2022 strategic plan.
Voted in on 17 November at the 6th World Assembly, by an overwhelming majority, Sabbah will provide overall strategic direction for the next four years. Refat Sabbah brings a wealth of knowledge and experience.
