ALBANIA ANNOUNCES THE WINNER OF NATIONAL TEACHER PRIZE

Tirana, 6 October 2017 – Albanian Coalition for Education, Child Right Centre Albania in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth announced today the winner of the National Teacher Prize 2017.

The ceremony was organized in the premises of the secondary school “Kushtrimi i Lirisë” where the winner Dhurata Myrtollari teaches.

The jury composed of prominent figures of the academic world, public figures, journalists and representatives of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, through a score-based evaluation announced Mrs. Myrtollari the winner of the National Teacher Prize.

Mrs. Lindita Nikolla, Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, handed the prize to the winner, said: "The mission of every teacher does not end simply and only with the explanation of several textbooks, but it is a mission that requires dedication in all that you teach to every pupil during the lesson” 

The other winners of the National teacher prize divided in categories are:

  • Mrs. Dhurata Myrtollari-Winner of National teacher prize Albania 2017,
  • Mrs. Irida Hoti- winner of the category “Teacher of the Year in Innovation”
  • Mrs. Majlinda Ziu- Teacher of the Year as a contributor to academic achievements
  • Mrs. Sherri Banushi- Advocacy Teacher of the Year for the right to education     
  • Mrs. Valbona Rustemi- Teacher of the Year in Preschool Education

Mrs. Myrtollari, and the other finalists will compete for the Global Teacher Prize, organized every year by Varkey Foundation
