ACCE attends the public hearing session on the draft budget of 2014

Tirana, 21 December 2013 - The Albanian Coalition for Child Education (ACCE), presented today at the parliamentary hearing session organized by the Subcommittee “For Human Rights " in cooperation with the Group of Women MPs , some recommendations regarding the 2014 draft budget .

Present at the hearing were representatives of civil society operating in the field of children's rights, women, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Health, parliamentarians, representatives of government, etc.

Mrs. Vasilika Hysi ëho stressed the fact that the budget has been discussed in all parliamentary standing committees on issues of women and children, where special hearing sessions were held ëith representatives of ministries and independent constitutional institutions, chaired the hearing.

In this open debate ACCE forwarded several recommendations among which we mention; the increase of the Albanian education budget not less than 5 % of the BDP in order to increase funding  for the public education system ,  develop a budget line specifically dedicated to providing free preschool education for children group aged from 3 to 6 years with  particular focus on vulnerable children across the country , provide monthly scholarships for children with social and economic disadvantages , allocation of a portion of the budget to ensure the transportation of children in need and those living in rural and marginalized areas .
