Albania opens the nomination process for the National Teacher Prize 2018

The winners will be competing for the “Global Teacher Prize” of Varkey Foundation

Tirana, 8 June 2018 – The Albanian Coalition for Education launched today for the 2^nd year the application process for the National Teachers Prize in Albania.

The application is made online and is active as of today. Teachers, school staff across Albania can apply for the National Prize. The application shall be accompanied with a Bio and work contribution of the teacher, letters of reference (written by group of pupils/parents/teachers/school director) and a video presentation in this address http://www.acce.al/sq/apliko-cmimin-kombetar-mesuesi-i-vitit.

All teachers of the public and private pre-university education in Albania can apply for the Prize. There are five principal categories of evaluation: Teaching; Advocating the Right to Education; Innovation; Academic Achievements; and Primary Education.

The winning teachers will participate and compete with teachers from all over the world in the Global Teacher Prize. The Global Teacher Prize, which has been appreciated by the media as the Nobel Prize in Teaching, is an initiative of Varkey Foundation, which assesses the teacher's profession as well as reveals thousands of teachers' stories that have contributed to the transformation of children and youth’s lives. Albania has become part of it for the first time in 2017.

The selection criteria for all the teachers who will apply are in line with criteria of Varkey Foundation, on which a jury composed by distinguished public figures will evaluate the candidates. The criteria are: achieving demonstrable learning outcomes in the classroom, recognizing teacher achievements, using innovative teaching practices, educating children to become global citizens, encouraging teachers to stay in the profession, etc.
