CRCA gathers the NGO working group to discuss drafting of Law on Youth in Albania

The youth law cannot be drafted without the participation of young people and without guaranteeing their support

Tirana, 25 July 2018 - Youth organizations from Albania, under the leadership of CRCA, held the first meeting of the NGO Working Group to discuss the structure of the Youth Law. The purpose of the law is to empower the support youth in Albania while establish mechanisms that would enable youth work.

The work to draft the youth law has just begun by the Albanian Government. In the meantime, youth organizations have been working for the last two years to address the issues and priorities that should be included in this law. Over the last two years, CRCA and the Albanian National Youth Network have worked together to consult with young people in 12 districts of the country to gather a good database and concerns that need to be addressed.

All the collected data and information were shared at the first meeting of the NGO Working Group, which will decide on the follow-up process. The NGO Working Group and all the young people involved in it want to guarantee a constructive process to the government draft -law, while guaranteeing a wider participation of young people in the process.

Albania is one of the last countries in the region that still does not have a Youth Law. The purpose of the law would be to further improve youth policies, establish institutional mechanism for youth support, and strengthening of services for youth.
