ALBANIA ACCREDITED FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A PARTICIPANT AT THE GLOBAL TEACHER PRIZE

Tirana 20 March 2017 – For the first time Albania joins Global Teacher Prize, praised by media as the Nobel Prize in teaching. This is an initiative of Varkey Foundation, which assesses teaching profession and reveals thousands histories of teachers who have contributed in transforming the lives of children and youth. Global Teacher Prize expresses gratitude to the work that millions of teachers do across the globe.

This year on 18-19 March, Albania represented by Albanian Coalition for Child Education joined the voices of more than 2000 delegates at the Global Education and Skills Forum. This forum every year brings together leaders from around the world, ministers of education, representatives of the academic and business to discuss and suggest the best solutions to ensure quality education and equal access to education for all.

During the ceremony of the Global Teacher Prize 2017, for the first time Albania was accredited by Varkey Foundation as one of the participating countries in Global Teacher Prize for 2018.

Albanian Coalition For Child Education and CRCA Albania will organize for the first time in the country, "The National Teachers Award for 2017", an initiative that that aims to highlight and promote all teachers who have brought a change in children’s lives and contributed to their education achievements.

All teachers of the pre-university system can participate in the National Teachers Award. Five are the main assessment categories: Best teacher of the year, best advocacy teacher, best innovative teacher, best teacher in school’s academic achievement, best teacher in pre-school.

In April, the call for proposal will be opened for all teacher who wish to be part of the National Teacher Award 2017. A national teacher prize academy composed of distinguished academic educational experts, public officials, business world and journalists will evaluate all the nominations and announce the winners in early October 2017.

The Winner of the National Teacher Prize will have the possibility to compete with other teachers from all over the world at the Global Teacher Prize 2018.
